Open source - TAMU 2025 Hero

Hello,

We have decided to open source our 2025 hero cad. Tada
Feel free to use it as reference, or just copy it. This document does not wholly reflect what’s on the robot, but is about 95% accurate

Why our hero? We’ve found hero to be a more difficult mechanical challenge with storing, moving, and shooting the 42mm projectiles. This hero did a pretty good job of that.

If you’re trying to design a similar, bottom fed hero, here’s some advice:

  • Hard jam points are the most important thing to avoid, prototype to find and remove them
  • Just like in fluid flow through a pipe, minimize your major (friction) and minor (inertial) losses
  • Don’t use old, tacky balls. They’re much more likely to cause jams.
  • The faster you feed, the more power your feeding motor will need. Power is proportional to v^2.
